Cabinet hardware is having a moment. A few years ago, knobs and pulls felt like an afterthought. In 2026, they're becoming one of the easiest ways to give kitchen cabinets a custom, designer-inspired look without changing the entire room.
If you're planning a kitchen update, the finish you choose can completely change how your cabinets feel. Here's what's catching homeowners' attention this year.
Warm Metallic Finishes Are Taking Over
For years, cool silver finishes dominated kitchens. Now, warmer tones are stealing the spotlight. Brushed brass continues to be one of the strongest kitchen cabinet hardware trends because it adds character without feeling flashy.
Homeowners appreciate how it pairs with both white cabinetry and rich wood tones. Champagne bronze is also gaining popularity because it offers warmth while remaining subtle and versatile.
Matte Black Isn't Going Anywhere
Some design trends fade quickly. Matte black hardware is not one of them. In fact, matte black remains one of the most requested finishes for homeowners seeking a clean, modern appearance.
It works particularly well against light-colored kitchen cabinets and provides strong visual contrast without overwhelming the space. The result feels crisp, current, and easy to coordinate with lighting fixtures and faucets.
Mixed Metals Are Becoming More Common
One of the biggest kitchen cabinet trends 2026 homeowners are embracing is mixing finishes. Instead of matching every metal surface, designers are pairing brass hardware with black lighting, stainless appliances, and complementary faucet finishes.
The goal isn't perfect matching. The goal is creating a space that feels collected and personal. When done well, mixed metals add depth and help a kitchen look thoughtfully designed rather than straight from a catalog.
Long, Streamlined Pulls Create a Custom Look
Hardware size matters just as much as finish. Long bar pulls and oversized handles continue trending because they create a streamlined appearance across large drawers and cabinet doors.
They're especially popular in contemporary and transitional kitchens where clean lines are a priority. Paired with simple kitchen cabinets, larger hardware can create a surprisingly sophisticated result.
Don't Forget Function
Trendy hardware still needs to work for everyday life. Think about how the hardware feels in your hand, how easy it is to clean, and whether it complements your cabinet style.
A beautiful knob that catches clothing or feels awkward every day can quickly become frustrating. The best choices combine visual appeal with comfort and practicality.
